Just wanted to share a mini update on the Discourse installation we might be using for a Citizen Science course.
I’ve updated the installation to follow the details from the Production setup manual
- Runs on EC2
- SMTP email through Mandrill
- Running the latest version of Discourse
- I disabled twitter and facebook, but Google login seems to work out of the box now
- Updating Discourse is supposed to be super easy (according to the setup manual), but I haven’t tried it.
It is not sure that we will use Discourse for a citizen science course (we are just discussing what such a project could look like). It took a few hours to get up and running, but was pretty painless.
