What to say first? Well, it is worth noting that this training agenda has evolved over the years and it will continue to do so. A version of this agenda was first offered to the Chicago Public Library and later to librarians from the Kenya National Library Service in 2016. In 2018, a two-day training was offered to librarians in Uganda, and then in Zambia, which linked more closely to the tools, resources and supports offered by P2PU. As a reminder, there is also a shorter half-day introductory workshop that might interest you, too.
This two-day extended workshop is meant to be offered by someone with experience of coordinating multiple regional learning circles programs, and offered to an audience that has an existing working relationship already (ie: a team, organization, or professional network). The overall goal of the training workshop is to prepare participants to organize and facilitate an effective learning circle program in their own community.
Consider this detailed agenda to be a baseline foundation from which to adapt, remix, and fit into your own training goals. The agenda and timing of the sessions is highly dependent on the number of participants who are attending the workshop. For example, with a larger number of participants (25-30 for example) sessions like introductions, group discussions, break-out meetings, report-backs, and the simple logistics of moving people around for breaks or lunch, could all add significant portions of time to the agenda. In addition, the agenda requires the inclusion of local expertise. Throughout the agenda and slides, there are significant portions which require the presenters to add their own analysis, best practices, and local resources. For these reasons, the stated length of time for each session is not included (you can add it in!), however, an example is offered as a guide to consider.
