Strategies for sustainablitity

Over the last few years we’ve funded the projects we’ve done in several different ways. I think it would be usefull talking about it a bit. It will also be usefull to look at other potential models for sustainability. Things like using kickstarter funds, donations, ets.

What sustainability models do you feel that we can potentially use and which one are definately not an option?

So, here are some ways of getting money for the things we do:

  • Research grants ( would some of the grants we get qualify as non-research grants?)
  • Kickstarter funds for learning projects
  • Kickstarter funds for course content (should this be something done by the community rather than us?)
  • Donations by course participants (before or after courses)
  • Consulting
  • Premium features for users (probably around accreditation, maybe in collaboration with a partner)
  • Providing services to other institutions wanting to host non-open online learning

I’m just listing a few, order and inclusion doesn’t indicate my preference or feelings about it.
