A Guide to Identifying and Sharing a Neighborhood’s Educational Assets with Young People

I’m a longtime supporter of Asset-based Community Development (ABCD) or, “looking at a situation as glass half-full, not half empty!”. ABCD has a long history and community associated with it, and I recommend exploring this work if you are unfamiliar to it.

I haven’t read this recent report by John McKnight, and although it is framed around supporting young people, I think it may have use for thinking about community-based and peer-learning in local settings. This also has some good ideas for framing asset mapping, especially when thinking about educational assets.
