By conducting a learning circle for my professional organization this spring and introducing one to my patrons this summer.

Why did you give the course 4 star/stars?
There were some hiccups as we all got acclimatedā€¦but then that could just be the natural course of learning circle and a new group coming together.

How likely are you to recommend participating in a learning circle to a friend or colleague?

Why?
They are a great, low pressure way to learn new things and bring new programming to our patrons.

I learned that the learning circle depends on the participants and that flexibility is needed - itā€™s okay to change it up

How do you intend to apply what you learned?
I hope to offer more programs to our patrons and staff. The communication skills discussed during this learning circle were also helpful for everyday library interactions.

Why did you give the course 4 star/stars?
Great structure, no tech issues. I now need to experience a learning circle to see how well the course translates to the facilitator experience.

Why?
It was nice to have a shared learning experience among colleagues. We were able to step outside of our library roles a little bit and interact more than we usually do.

I hoped to have a full understanding of what a learning circle is and to have the confidence to create learning circles for my organization.

Is there anything else that you learned or achieved during the learning circle?
I loved the time given to reflection. The model works well in offering the space for a potential facilitator to examine their own learning, listening, collaborating styles. I learned how much I love learning with others!

I would like to set up at least several in-person learning circles for my library in 2021.

Struggled the first session with new technology and the Zoom environment.

Why?
Shared learning is exciting. Hearing anotherā€™s perspective; honing listening skills; exploring! Learning circles give the opportunity to broaden oneā€™s community, make a friend. Learning together builds relationships.
