Did anything about the learning circle surprise you?
We advertised the class as being for adults but on week 1 several participants brought children with them. Most of those people never returned after week 1.

Do you have any stories from the learning circle you want to share with the P2PU community?
After the first week, less than half the enrollees returned for the remaining sessions. That was disappointing. Despite the fact that our write-up gave an explanation of what a learning circle was, many still expected a “teacher” on week one. The good news is that those who did return had a wonderful time and we bonded well as a smaller group for the remaining sessions. My advice to myself for next time is to not spend too much time during week one with “housekeeping” and setting up group rules. While the housekeeping is important, I feel in hindsight that the participants really wanted to jump into the subject matter right away.

Why did you give the course 4 star(s)?
It was a bit lean, so I added some supplementary videos I found on YouTube. Other than that, it was excellent.

How likely are you to recommend facilitating a learning circle to a friend or colleague?

Why?
I work in a library, and I think learning circles are a great vehicle for library programming. I do, however, think that learning circles tend to attract smaller, more dedicated groups of patrons rather than larger groups who may want to spend less time and/or les work on a specific topic.
